A small World of Warcraft addon that adds stack information to item tooltips.
What it does
When you hover an item, this addon adds stack details directly to the tooltip:
If the item is being hovered from a bag slot, it shows:
Stack: current / maxExample:
Stack: 4 / 20If the item is being hovered from anywhere else and the current bag stack cannot be determined, it shows:
Max Stack: maxExample:

Features
- Adds maximum stack size to item tooltips
- Detects when the tooltip comes from a bag slot
- Shows current stack / max stack for bag items
- Falls back cleanly to max stack only when bag slot data is not available
- Prevents duplicate tooltip lines when the tooltip refreshes

Why this exists
By default, WoW does not always show stack information in a quick, readable way when hovering items. This addon makes it easier to see:
- how many items are in the current stack
- how large the stack can become
This is especially useful for:
- cloth
- herbs
- ores
- gems
- consumables
- profession materials
- any other stackable item
How it works
The addon hooks the main game tooltip and tracks bag-slot context when an item is hovered from the backpack.
- On tooltip clear, it resets stored bag data
- On bag item hover, it stores the bag and slot
- On tooltip set, it:
- gets the item link
- gets the item's max stack size
- checks whether the tooltip came from a matching bag slot
- shows either:
- current stack / max stack
- or max stack only
Notes
- This addon modifies the tooltip only
- It does not add text to item icons or bag slots
- Current stack size is only shown when the tooltip comes from a valid bag slot
- If item data is not cached yet, the stack line may not appear until the item info becomes available
