BuffResponder
Automatically responds when getting buffed.
Never forget to thank helpful players again! BuffResponder automatically detects when other players buff you and sends them a customizable whisper message, helping you build positive social connections in World of Warcraft Classic.
BuffResponder monitors the combat log for beneficial buffs applied to your character by other players. When detected, it automatically sends a thank you whisper after a configurable delay. This eliminates the need to manually type thank you messages while questing, grinding, or traveling through the world.
Supported Buffs
- Druid: Mark of the Wild, Thorns
- Mage: Arcane Intellect
- Paladin: Blessing of Might, Blessing of Kings, Blessing of Wisdom
- Priest: Prayer of Wisdom, Power Word: Fortitude
- Warlock: Water breathing
Multiple Response Messages
- Configure up to 5 different thank you messages for variety
- Choose between random mode (picks a random message from your configured options) or fixed mode (always use a specific message)
- Perfect for adding personality and preventing repetitive responses
- Example: Rotate between "Ty <3", "Thanks mate!", "Much appreciated!", and more!
Intelligent Spam Prevention
- Per-Player Cooldown System: Set a cooldown period (default 60 seconds) to prevent spamming the same player if they buff you multiple times in quick succession
- Delayed Response: Configurable reply delay (default 4 seconds) makes your responses appear more natural and human-like, rather than instantly robotic
Social Awareness Settings
- Exclude Group Members: Toggle whether to send whispers to party/raid members (enabled by default) - perfect for dungeon runs where buff spam would be annoying
- Exclude Guild Members: Toggle whether to send whispers to guildmates (enabled by default) - ideal for maintaining clean guild chat without redundant thanks
- Customizable Messages: Set up to 5 different thank you messages to match your personality and add variety to your responses
Easy Configuration
All settings are managed through simple slash commands - no need to edit files or reload the UI:
- /buffr help - Display all available commands
- /buffr status - View your current configuration at a glance
- /buffr on/off - Quickly toggle the addon on or off
- /buffr message <text> - Set your custom thank you message (sets message #1)
- /buffr message1-5 <text> - Set specific messages (1-5) for variety
- /buffr mode <random|1|2|3|4|5> - Choose random selection or always use a specific message
- /buffr delay <seconds> - Adjust how long to wait before responding
- /buffr cooldown <seconds> - Set the per-player cooldown timer
- /buffr excludegroup on/off - Control whether party/raid members get whispers
- /buffr excludeguild on/off - Control whether guildmates get whispers
- /buffr debug on/off - Enable testing mode (bypasses cooldowns for easy testing!)
- /buffr reset - Reset all settings to default values
Usage
Setup multiple messages with random mode:
/buffr message1 Thank you! <3
/buffr message2 Ty mate!
/buffr message3 Thanks for the buff!
/buffr mode random
Now the addon will randomly pick one of these three messages each time!
Use a specific message consistently:
/buffr message1 Thanks friend! :)
/buffr message2 Much appreciated!
/buffr mode 1
This will always use message #1 regardless of other configured messages.
Check your configuration:
/buffr status
Shows all your messages, current mode, and all settings.
Reset to defaults:
/buffr reset
Instantly restores all settings to their default values - useful if you want to start fresh!
Testing your setup:
/buffr debug on
Enable debug mode to test the addon by buffing yourself. Debug mode also bypasses cooldowns, so you can test repeatedly without waiting!
Default Settings:
When you first install BuffResponder or use /buffr reset, these are the default settings:
- Message 1: "ty <3"
- Message 2: "thx :)"
- Message 3: "tyvm <3"
- Message 4: "ty :)"
- Message 5: "thx :D"
- Response Mode: random (picks randomly from all 5 messages)
- Reply Delay: 4 seconds
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
- Exclude Group: On
- Exclude Guild: On
- Debug Mode: Off
