Friends Class Colors (MoP Classic)
Adds class colors to the Friends list in Mists of Pandaria Classic.
- WoW friends (added by character): colors the entire name by class.
- Battle.net friends: colors only the character name in parentheses by class (e.g.
Account (Character)→ the part inside()gets the class color).
Lightweight, zero-config, no saved variables. Works well alongside ElvUI.

Installation

Extract the folder
FriendsClassColorsinto:World of Warcraft\_classic_\Interface\AddOns\Make sure the addon is enabled on the character select screen. If the client patches, update the.toc## Interfacenumber (current: 50500) so the game doesn’t mark it as “out of date”. Type/reloadin game.
Compatibility
- Built for MoP Classic (Interface 50500).
- Should work with most UI packs (including ElvUI).
- If another addon fully replaces the Friends frame, it may override our coloring; load this addon after such UI mods or test with only ElvUI enabled.
Known limitations
- BNet friends not currently playing WoW (no character shown in parentheses) won’t be colored.
- If Blizzard changes the Friends frame API in a future patch, the coloring may need an update.
- Retail-only classes (Demon Hunter, Evoker) may appear uncolored on some MoP Classic clients. The MoP Battle.net API often does not expose their class data, so the addon can’t determine a color. PRs welcome if you have a reliable cross-client method.
Troubleshooting
- Not showing? Ensure the addon is enabled and
/reload. - Still gray? Temporarily disable other social/friends addons to check for conflicts.
- Interface mismatch? Update the
.toc## Interfaceto your current build (use/run print((select(4, GetBuildInfo())))to see it).
