RecentDamageTaken

RecentDamageTaken is a lightweight combat analysis addon that helps you understand what kind of damage you are taking in real time.

Instead of focusing on DPS, threat, spell names, or combat-log details, the addon continuously analyzes your incoming damage and displays a clear breakdown of damage schools such as Physical, Fire, Frost, Nature, Shadow, Arcane, and Holy.

This allows tanks, healers, and encounter learners to quickly answer questions such as:

Am I dying to physical or magical damage?
Is this boss mostly dealing Shadow damage?
Is my armor helping, or is the dangerous damage magical?
What type of damage is actually threatening me right now?

RecentDamageTaken is designed to provide actionable information with minimal visual clutter.

Midnight Compatibility

Midnight (patch 12.0) introduced the Secret Values system, which restricts addon access to most combat-log information during raids and Mythic+ content.

To remain functional inside restricted content, RecentDamageTaken uses the UNIT_COMBAT event instead of the combat log whenever possible. This allows the addon to continue analyzing your incoming damage even when traditional combat-log based addons cannot access the necessary information.

Because of these game restrictions:

Only your own incoming damage can be analyzed
Spell names and damage sources are unavailable
Absorbs cannot be tracked
Damage reduction estimates are only available in unrestricted content

If Blizzard further restricts damage information in future patches, the addon will automatically detect this and display a clear "Restricted" status instead of generating errors.
