FontMagic — Custom Floating Combat Text Fonts (All WoW Versions)

FontMagic lets you replace Blizzard’s floating combat text (damage/healing numbers and combat messages shown in the world) with a font you actually like — and adjust the size in-game, with a clean UI designed for Retail + Classic-era clients.

No full game restart required: after applying a new font, simply log out to character select and back in (relog) for the client to fully load it.

If your client marks it as out-of-date, enable “Load out of date AddOns”.

Features

• Choose from 100+ bundled fonts, organized into practical categories:
  • Favorites, Popular, Clean & Readable, Bold & Impact, Fantasy & RP, Sci-Fi & Tech, Random, Custom
• Favorites system: click the star icon next to any font to add/remove it from Favorites
• Hover-to-preview: hovering a font in any dropdown shows a small floating preview near your cursor (no clicking required)
• Live preview panel: preview your own text instantly, plus a header that shows the selected font name rendered in that font
• Instant size scaling via slider (no relog required for size changes)
• Combat text controls: enable/disable combat text and toggle individual combat-text types (damage/heals/periodic/pet/etc.)
• Expandable “Combat text options” panel to keep the main UI uncluttered
• Reset options: reset Font only, Combat options only, or Everything
• Minimap icon (drag to reposition), plus slash commands

• Slash commands: /float

Applying Font Changes (Important)

WoW loads combat text fonts at specific points, so font changes require a relog for consistent results across clients:

1. Select a font (use hover preview to browse quickly)
2. Click Apply
3. Log out to character select, then log back in

Size changes and combat-text toggles apply immediately.

Favorites + Hover Preview Tips

• Click the star next to a font name to favorite it.
• Your starred fonts appear in the Favorites dropdown.
• Hover any font entry to see a floating preview window near your cursor.

Combat Text Options

FontMagic includes a quick Show Combat Text toggle, plus an expandable options panel where you can toggle specific combat text types (e.g. outgoing damage, outgoing healing, periodic damage, pet damage, avoidance messages, resource gains, and more).

Some WoW versions expose additional floating-combat-text settings; FontMagic will surface extra compatible toggles when available.

Add Your Own Fonts (Optional)

To use fonts you downloaded yourself, install the helper addon:
FontMagicCustomFonts

Then:

1. Place your font files in: FontMagicCustomFonts/Custom
2. Rename each file to a number (e.g., 1.ttf, 2.ttf, 3.ttf) — up to 20.ttf
3. Your fonts will appear in FontMagic under the Custom category

Notes

• FontMagic modifies Blizzard’s default floating combat text only. If you use a separate scrolling combat text addon, configure that addon separately.
• Built for broad compatibility across Retail and Classic-era clients.
