Description and History

Back in 2008, when the world was still cold and macros did mostly their thing for mounting, a little floating city called Dalaran appeared. This one made it impossible for me to use my macro as you could fly on Krasus' Landing but not anywhere else in the city. You could not even mount on a flying mount in ground zones at all. There were just the Headless Horsemans Riding Reins which worked in both parts.

That was the birth of this small addon.

Back then only two buttons existed: "Mount" and "Mount ground". These were just slightly increased in function until somewhere in Legion. Since then, there are different mount groups which you can fill on your own (e.g. just the Nether Drakes). The mounting does respect class and trade skill limitations (it won't try to mount a Turbo-charged Flying Machine if you're not an engineer) as well as factional limits (no Great White Kodo for Alliance).

The categories for auto mounting are:

- In Oculus: Use the Drake item when in inventory (it makes sense to fly there)

- During All Hallows Eve: Use the broom when in inventory (no mount time)

- In Vashj'ir (swimming): Take the fast sea pony

- Under water (swimming): Take one of the "slow" water mounts

- In an area where you can fly (enough skill + flying mount available): Take a flying mount

- In an area where you cannot fly: Take a ground mount (and some in-game store mounts)

- If you have no riding skill at all: Take the chauffeur mount, if available

The specific mount groups (1-5) do not take into account where you can or cannot fly. They just filter out faction, class and trade skill limitations.

The broom and oculus mounts only work, when using the main key binding, as it is only possible to bind using an item to a key and not using it from LUA code (thanks for the limitation Blizzard).

You can also filter out unwanted mounts via favourites and dislikes, which are stored per character.

The mount groups however are shared across all your characters, so you can put the sale mount on a key combination like Alt+V which is automatically shared across your characters. These are also filtered by Trade Skill, Class and Faction limitations, so you can even put all the Legion class mounts in a group and activate them on the same binding.

I've been playing actively since Burning Crusade, though i do have some classic characters. I just made a break during Pandaria and skipped Draenor as well.

Keep in mind, that this addon has only been tested in English for the newest version. The translations for German, French and Italian might be a little outdated.

Some commands

The commands are explained in the main command /mm or /mikamounter. Some of the commands will be also explained here.

 [Mount Link] = The thing you get by Shift+Click on a mount in your mount window.

/mm mount or /mm mountground

The same as the main two buttons except for the item based things. This can be added in a druid shapeshift macro as done by a friend.

/mm list mountgroup 1

Lists all mounts in mount group 1 by <Spell ID>: <Name of Mount>. This is shared across your characters. You can replace 1 with any number from 1 to 5 to list the specific group.

/mm toggle mountgroup 1 [Mount Link]

Adds or removes the mount from this group. Remember: This is shared across all your characters.

/mm toggle favourites

Turns favourites on or off. This is done per character, like the adding and removing.

/mm toggle favourite [Mount Link]

Adds or removes a favourite. This is done per character and does nothing unless the favourites are active.

The "favourites" and "favourite" also exist for "dislikes" and "dislike" to remove some mounts from the selection. Thus creating a complete Whitelist and Blacklist function.

/mm list newmounts

Should you be missing a mount, try this. It lists mounts, which have not yet been categorized (i.e. added in a recent patch). These are listed as above with <Spell ID>: <Name of Mount>. If you can't wait for an update and own a text editor like Notepad++, you can add them in the "waterMounts", "groundMounts" or "flyingMounts" variables in the file "MikaMounter.lua" - depending on the category they should be in. It is written with "<Spell ID>, -- <Name of Mount>" per line between the round-pointed brackets { }.

Well known bugs

- Leaving Oculus unmounted after obtaining the drake might render the main button useless until you mount or move something in your inventory.

- Some areas are designated as Flying Zones (such as a mount drop area on Argus) by the game although you can never fly in them.
