Open Door

WoW Housing has no venue directory. If your house is open, nobody knows unless you tell them. Open Door fixes that — a shared map of open houses, built entirely inside the game.

Opening your house to visitors

1. Stand inside your own plot, then type /od and click List My House
2. Pick a category, how long you want to be listed, and an optional description
3. Hit Share to Chat and drop the link anywhere — Trade, General, Guild, Party, wherever your audience is

That's it. Anyone with Open Door who sees the link gets your plot pinned on their map.

Finding and visiting open houses

Open Door watches chat automatically. When a listing link appears — in any channel — it's added to your browser as a glowing green pin on the neighbourhood map. No action needed on your part.

To browse what's available: type /od. Select a neighbourhood on the left, find a green pin on the map, click it, and confirm. You're in.

You can also click any Open Door link directly in chat to jump straight to that neighbourhood.

• Live neighbourhood map — open house pins appear on a map that mirrors the in-game House Finder, positioned on the correct plot
• Browse by neighbourhood — left panel lists every neighbourhood with at least one active listing, alphabetically sorted
• Chat link detection — automatically picks up listings shared in Say, Yell, Guild, Party, Raid, Channel, or Whisper
• Clickable chat links — click a posted link to open the browser directly to that neighbourhood
• Share to Chat — inserts your listing link into the active chat box with one click

• Flexible duration — list for 30 minutes up to 24 hours
• Optional description — add a short note (up to 120 characters)
• Cross-realm — share links work across realms since they route through whispers
• Survives reloads — your listing persists through /reload and relogs until it expires
• Spoof-proof — listings are validated against the WoW server's sender identity; nobody can fake a listing for another player
• AddonCompartment support — appears in the minimap addon button dropdown

Notes

• You need to share your link for others to find you. Open Door does not broadcast listings automatically — sharing in a populated channel (Trade, General, Guild) is how you get visitors.
• Listings are ephemeral by design. If the owner logs out without clearing their listing, it simply expires at the chosen time.
• Open Door has no affiliation with Blizzard Entertainment. It uses only the housing and addon messaging APIs available to all addons.
