AntiScam

AntiScam is a safety addon for WoW Classic and TBC that helps protect you from impersonation scams during enchanting and other trust-based trades.

Many scams happen when you whisper one player, but trade with another character using a very similar name. This is especially dangerous for enchant trades, where materials often have to be handed over in advance. AntiScam gives you more context before you commit to a risky trade.

## Features

- Tracks recent whisper conversations with other players
- Detects suspicious trade situations when you did not recently whisper the current trade partner
- Warns when you recently spoke to a character with a similar name
- Highlights high-risk name-confusion cases directly next to the trade window
- Shows trade partner details such as name, level, guild, last whisper, and previous trade history
- Displays a clear risk score so you can judge the warning level at a glance
- Uses color-coded warning states from safe to high risk

## How it helps

AntiScam is designed for real in-game situations like these:

- You whisper an enchanter in trade chat and later get traded by a different character with a nearly identical name
- You are in a hurry and do not notice that the trade window belongs to someone else
- You are about to hand over expensive materials before the enchant is applied
- A player actively trades you first to pressure you into accepting quickly

Instead of relying only on memory, AntiScam gives you a warning with the reasons why the trade looks suspicious.

## Trade protection

When a trade starts, AntiScam can show:

- who you are trading with
- whether you recently whispered that character
- whether you traded with them before
- whether a similar name was recently seen in whispers
- whether the trade was initiated by the other player
- a visible warning level with clear color feedback

If the situation looks unsafe, AntiScam places a warning over the trade window so you can stop and verify the character before continuing.

## Mail protection

AntiScam also includes optional mail protection for cases where auto-complete or name suggestions may cause mail to be sent to the wrong character. This feature is disabled by default and can be enabled manually in the addon options.

## Notes

- This addon is designed as a warning and verification tool, not a full automatic blocker for every scam pattern.
- Level and guild information depend on what the game client can currently identify from your target or mouseover.
- Similar-name detection includes normalization for accented characters to better catch impersonation tricks.

Stay safe, double-check the character name, and do not hand over valuable materials too quickly.
