Features

• Now updated for Retail (The War Within / Midnight) and TBC Classic versions of WoW
• Context-Aware Form Selection: Automatically evaluates your environment and rewrites your keybind macro to use the best form for your current location.
• Smart Zone Logic:
  • Indoors / Dungeons → Your chosen Indoor Form (Cat by default).
    • TBC Classic only: Hardcoded exceptions like The Black Morass and Escape from Durnhold always use Travel Form.
  • Outdoors (Non-Flyable) → Travel Form.
  • Flyable Areas:
    • Retail: Flight Form or Travel Form (configurable). Travel Form is recommended — it's smart and handles all terrain.
    • TBC Classic: Swift Flight Form or Flight Form (configurable) in Outland zones. Falls back to Travel Form in combat.
  • Swimming → Aquatic Form (retail: handled automatically by Travel Form).
• Configurable Indoor Form: Choose what form to use indoors and in dungeons:
  • Cat Form (default)
  • Bear Form
  • Moonkin Form (falls back to No Form if not learned)
  • Tree of Life (falls back to No Form if not learned)
  • No Form — cancels shapeshift, leaving you in caster form.
• Cancel Form on Second Press: Optional toggle that removes the ! lock from all form casts. Press your keybind once to shift in, press it again to shift out — works for every form including Flight and Aquatic. Great for free-falling as a druid.
• Hardware-Level Keybindings: Hooks directly into the game's override binding system, allowing flawless support for mouse buttons, scroll wheels, and modifier keys.
• Per-Character Settings: Keybind, flight form preference, indoor form preference, and toggle behaviour are all saved per character.
• Fully Localized: UI supports all WoW client languages — enUS/enGB, deDE, frFR, esES, esMX, ptBR, itIT, ruRU, koKR, zhCN, and zhTW.

How to Use

1. Log in — the configuration window will open automatically on first install if you're a druid.
2. Click "Bind New Key" and press your desired hotkey.
3. Select your flight form preference under Flight Form Selection.
4. Select your indoor form preference under Indoor Form.
5. Optionally enable Cancel Form on Second Press under Behaviour.
6. Tap that hotkey anywhere in the world to instantly shift into the correct form.

You can reopen the configuration window at any time with /bpm or /bearplane, or close it with ESC.

Commands

• /bpm or /bearplane → Toggle the configuration window.
• /bpdebug → Print current zone, indoor, swimming, and flyable state to chat (useful for reporting issues).

How It Works Behind the Scenes

The addon uses a hidden secure action framework running an environment detection engine. It monitors your indoor/outdoor status, swimming state, and flyable area data (retail), or specific Outland zone data (TBC Classic). When a change is detected it rewrites the secure frame's macro attributes instantly.

By binding your hotkey directly to this frame, the addon acts exactly like a native hardware action bar button, bypassing the limitations of standard text macros entirely.

Installation

1. Copy the files into your game directory: Interface/AddOns/BearplaneMode/
2. Ensure the folder contains:
   • Localization.lua
   • BPMlogo.tga
   • BearplaneMode.lua
   • BearplaneMode.toc
   • BearplaneMode_retail.lua (retail clients only)
   • BearplaneMode_Mainline.toc (retail clients only)
3. Restart WoW or type /reload in chat.
